D.O.P.-T.

The dog had to go in for her annual physical, at 8 am. We turned up in good time, although neither of us was very awake, and parked a little way down the street where there was a shady tree. As soon as the dog recognized the door, she began resisting. As we attempted to weigh her, she destroyed a venetian blind with two deft swipes. She barked persistently at another dog somewhere in the bowels of the building, then had to be towed into the examining room on the shiny fake wood floor. She put up a brave fight against every step of the examination, becoming a firmly inert furry bolster. While the housemate stayed behind to pay the bill, I took her out and she tried repeatedly to run across the street and defect via the train station. Finally she sat down in the middle of the street and I had to pick up her front end to get her back to the car, where, fortunately, the housemate finally joined us. And she needs her chompers attending to, so she is going to have to go back and be subjected to worse indignities than a thermometer up the rear and probing fingers all over her.
