I was putting laundry on the line and a pale streak passed in front of my eyes. Monty was walking nonchalantly across the yard on the other side of the chainlink fence, where there used to be a dog but the family have moved out. He proceeded to roll in a depression in the dust, showing me his tummy, and then went off to sit behind some tall weeds and watch me. Something banged in the breeze and he disappeared, but later I saw him eating on the porch.
