Grey and chilly all day today. I discovered that one of the old closet doors that the neighbors (actually, it turned out, their landlady) zip-tied to the chainlink fence on one side of our back yard to try to keep our dogs from seeing and barking at each other has split at the top and is peeling back on the side closer to us, revealing that it is indeed pressboard and has a hollow core with a few strips of in effect cardboard up the middle as stiffening. I don't know whether it's just the damp or whether the rats have gnawed it, but the peeling side has dropped soggy cardboardy bits into the long grass along the fence, which I gathered up and put in the trash as best I could in case the dog is tempted to eat them.
