99 again, and it was supposed to be very smoky, but I risked walking the dog in the evening after checking the Chronicle air quality map. Liquidambar and other leaves are starting to decorate the sidewalks. The couple who redid their yard with white stone chips got a little fig tree in a nursery pot and then left it sitting unwatered; all its leaves withered and fell off, leaving a single ripe fig at the very top. They've now planted it in a new raised bed, surrounded by mulch, and it is starting to poke out new leaves, so maybe it will survive. The forecasters think we might have rain next weekend.
