Apparently it's been an unusually cool August, so far. I'm glad of it: pleasant nights, beautiful sunny days, I can dimly see the hills in the distance.
I was in downtown Sunnyvale shopping at Macy's on my day off, today (startlingly few choices - I hope they're just saving things up for the Labor Day sale and not flirting with bankruptcy as so many other companies have in the past decade), and the street was busy with people who live, eat, and work out in the new tall buildings across the street from the perennially unfinished apartments, the ones that were built where the 1970s one- and two-storey Town and Country stores were. I had to wait for the light to cross the street in any direction, rather than ambling across, and had to dodge people on the sidewalks. It was very strange, and it will be even stranger once they start finishing up those empty buildings, which are equally cliff-like. Or rather, after all these years, if they ever start finishing them.
