The orange tarp is down in the vacant lot, the hay bales have been delivered, and a tractor trailer that appeared today presumably contains pumpkins. Turning into our street I heard a scrabbling and saw a large shape ascending a cedar tree - one of the ones where the city shaved the trunk bare a few years ago. It turned to look at me - a raccoon. I said hi and it climbed up into the branches, making them wave.
Had to go to my doctor's on my day off, which turned out to be a Heat Advisory and Spare the Air day, so I took it slowly and after noting that trees are dying or dead on both sides of Mathilda Ave and this ill-considered pastiche is nearing completion:
