No, I didn't die from the presumed spider bite. It still looks gruesome enough to require long sleeves at work though, which is a pain since I spend a lot of time dashing to clean things / put things back in order / grab water for my dins / dump wads of money in the safe ... or unpacking merchandise, sealing the packaging, looking up the store code, printing and affixing labels, and stocking it so we can actually sell it ... minding a store solo is not as sedentary a job as you might think.

They've demolished a group of office buildings on Mathilda. There were single-storey white concrete buildings along the street, with a heavy overhanging cornice and plate glass windows, and set back from them a multi-storey unit. Three earthmovers have now dragged it all down and away - one night the core of the tall building was left standing like the result of a bombing, the next day even the fir trees had been snapped off - and I suppose what they are doing now is making a big hole in the ground. There is still basically a big hole in the ground across the road where two nice old houses used to stand. But every morning the three earthmovers are arrayed like a corps de ballet, with either their bent claw arms or their blue rounded cab-butts facing the street in a neat row.

Bear is still around. Here he is a month ago, waiting patiently for me to stop pointing the camera at him:

I've walked the two dogs solo a few times in the past couple of weeks, so below the cut are some pictures of him on walkies in the morning sun.

Here. )
