Some houses still have their Hallowe'en stuff up, but the guy whose yard is full of inflatables every year has brought his in, so now there is just his little Japanese maple, all ruddy, and flattened areas in the grass.
The rain finally returned, heavy by the time I went to bed, although it was dry when I walked to work.
Cold enough this morning for me to bow to necessity and bring in my tender potted plants, so there are now three impatienses and a small leggy coleus crowding the table next to my bedroom window. The chickens were huddling together for warmth in a multicolored clump when I walked the dogs this morning.
