It is spider season again. There are several in corners of my room; I tidy up their webs every once in a while, but since I abruptly grew out of being scared of them, I appreciate them keeping the insects under control. However, the silly girl at work is agitating for spider poison after finally glimpsing one of the ones that live in the glass counters, under the fluorescent lights.
Now I know why those neighbors were using a sun lamp just inside their french doors. Today they had a moveable wire cage out on their lawn with 6 young chickens in it. About 6 inches long, at the long-necked stage, happily pecking in the grass. They are also growing their tomatoes against the front fence rather than on the porch, this year - probably so the chickens can more easily go in and out.
