A house down the street contains a varying collection of hairy and non-hairy small dogs. They have a rectangle cut out of the fence at the side of the house at deck level so that at least one can peer out through it, and in summer they spend a lot of time in the extra living room they have created from their attached garage, which means that walking past, one is likely to be attacked by one or more small, yipping white mops that run out of the open door. It isn't that warm yet, but sometime last week, their front lawn acquired a sprinkling of tennis balls. Including one stuck in the wire fence. I wonder whether they are raising a litter of puppies.
