Despite heavy rain yesterday that already broke records for June - and made the store ceiling leak in 6 places - the hills were all shiny green and gold in the sun this morning. A woodpecker was hammering on a telephone pole somewhere. A jogger went by in shorts and a grey T-shirt. There are locally grown cherries in the supermarket. And poor Bear had apparently spent all day yesterday in the beauty parlor: he is all short-shorn like a plush carpet, except for his freshly combed woolly tail, and has a bright new collar.
