I had impatienses in the yard last year. As usual, the ones planted directly under a tree looked sad and eventually just died, while the ones in big, shallow, round-bottomed pots under another tree were very happy until it got cold, when they died fast. Unfortunately those pots are too big and heavy to bring indoors past the screen room, and that wasn't warm enough the year I tried it. Now I suddenly find a healthy, happy impatiens in the pot that I left under the tree, covered in red flowers. Presumably a seed grew. I hope I can manage to repot it into something portable before it gets cold.
