How important are foreign languages?

Pretty important? I mean, all languages are foreign to someone. :-D

Thoughts


All languages are vitally important. They teach us a great deal about how people think and perceive the world. Losing any language is a tragedy.

Very. Despite the prevailing US attitude that everyone should speak English so we don't have to bother with them.

I have a little Spanish, from when I was very young and took classes. I have a little German, from when I learned it in High School.

Never had the opportunity to use them, so there's very little of either left, unfortunately.
