Last night what was on the carpet in the store was a large and very sluggish brown moth. I pushed it gently under a DVD rack. It emerged so I picked it up and plonked it back under the DVD rack.

Creeturs in distress never quite seem to know what'll keep them from getting smushed/eaten/more in distress. :(

At the fair yesterday, there was a little girl (11 or so, not very little) who was being horrible to the chickens--banging on their cages, pulling at their feathers, etc. I snapped at her to stop, and she did, but it sort of soured me on humans for a bit. Then, right before I left the poultry barn, a butterfly landed awkwardly on the edge of a chicken cage. It seemed exhausted, like it just couldn't figure out how to get out. Another little girl, and a boy, darted around me shouting, "That butterfly's going to get eaten!" and when the girl put her hand out to it, it crawled up onto her fingers. Presumably she carried it to safety.

So that was cool. :)
