It says something about the recent heat that a high of 89 felt like blessed coolth. PG&E (may they rot from the bowels out) gave us a micro-power cut in late afternoon that threw the modem off and had us both scrambling around with the 60' orange garden extension cord in case it was the outlet in my room that had gone bad, or the similar extension cord already plugged into it, which snakes around behind half my furniture, along the hallway and into the housemate's study along with blue-clad co-ax, grey phone extension cord, and something white. As it turned out, the actual box just needed a firm massage. So the housemate went to bed early and I walked the dog alone in the twilight. As we left the house we startled a young tabby cat; I think he had been getting up the courage to check out the catfood dish. People were happily using both the tennis and the basketball courts; the latter had remained padlocked, but last night I noticed suspicious gaps under the chainlink, and legal or not, I'm happy to see people able to practise their jump shots again, especially all the families who have paid big money for houses around the park. The dog was mostly good, though she did wuff at one lady watering her own front yard with a hose.
