Yesterday for the first time I was affected by the habit of the so-called "Google buses" - the private buses laid on by the big tech companies for their employees - of parking at bus stops. Luckily it wasn't at the one I needed to get on at, but when our double-length bus came to one stop, it was already occupied by this big white thing with dark windows. Our driver was an irascible woman - she angled in front of the thing, cutting it off, so that the waiting passengers could get on without too much difficulty, although the one person getting off had to do so at the front. (I've seen bus drivers simply skip the stop when a car is occupying the bus stop kerb inset.) Then when I was waiting to cross the street after getting my coffee, there was another of them parked behind the empty restaurant that used to be Dondon's, the rice bowl place. I begin to see why half of San Francisco is livid at them.
