The swanky new development including a Target and a fountain that replaced the poor old dead Mervyn's strip mall in Santa Clara, and the mysterious vacant lot on a major corner in front of it, is now fully open. It took the coffee shop a while to get set up, although the steakburgers place was one of the first to open. The city rolled out a new decoration scheme for El Camino in association with the opening: groups of two and three tall planters at the kerb, earthenware painted bright blue, red, and green, and filled with geraniums and other colorful flowers. The banners hanging from the lampposts have been taken down and the planters are spreading to block after block. They're nice, but I'm not sure who waters the flowers and removes the coffee cups, dead earbuds, and so on.
Back to darkness when I leave work in the morning and I lost an hour of work, thanks to stupid politicians. However, I managed to change the clock at work without falling off the ladder.

A pair of geese on the playing field at the park yesterday morning. They probably overwatered it again, driving away the offleash dog exercisers who are usually there at that time. I trust the geese fertilized the grass well.
