Since last Monday's trash pick-up, three or four polystyrene peanuts per day have appeared on our front lawn and under the bushes along our driveway. I wish I could find where they're coming from to get rid of the whole lot.
The beans that aren't in pots have been a bit overshadowed by the massive morning glory growth, and swallowed by the long grass, but Bear decided to take a short cut through that bed and flattened the grass a bit in the course of emerging like a lion from the jungle undergrowth, so I found a few humongous beans, some of the contents of which I've set aside to try planting next year. Most of the potted ones continue to produce, though the two in the huge square pot under the kitchen window continue to do best.
I fear we may have lost the chicken family from the corner house. Their house is being painted inside, and new fencing was installed there and at the next-door house, which involved severe cutting of the sunflower hedge (boo). But their car and Yoda the little Himalayan cat have reappeared, so maybe there's hope the nice family and their chickens will also return.
It was such a relief the roadworks guys were off for the weekend ... they're currently messing up one side of the park, and have marked up a further stretch of the street beyond that for surgery. It will be something like the 5th time in 4 years since it was nicely resurfaced.
