The inventory got finished. Not well, but done. Multicolored tabs cut from mini-Post-Its and with numbers scribbled on them were floating down like confetti as customers palpated merchandise. "Ginevra" worked 3 or 4 hours alongside me in the dead of night so we could get it done, then retired to her office to eat Hardee's and sleep. My legs and eyes ached and my head was swimming. Luckily it wasn't a busy night, and I didn't sneeze much. Two of the four preview booths were closed with messed-up bill slots and we were both riffling through the DVD drawers checking them; then I was moving out the older boxes to make room for the new week's.
