The pool in the park is being used for an aquacise program. There was a notice on the fence for about a day, and since then all day and into the evening, the pool has been occupied by people wearing T-shirts over their swimsuits and either standing and gripping long foam cylinders or very slowly swimming a few feet. Each has a lane of their own. The "no lifeguard on duty" sign is posted, but there's always at least one drill sergeant in black directing the mysteries. And a huge digital clock mounted on the front of the bleachers. It's strange to see the pool uncovered and in use this late in the year, especially since the trees have been raining leaves, including the ficus trees next to the pool. When I come home in the early hours, steam rises from it, but luckily no one is still standing around in the water trying to break an endurance record.
